Hawkins County Schools Family Resource Center is hosting a food and hygiene drive at the upcoming football game between Cherokee and Volunteer on October 25, 2024, at Volunteer High School. The drive aims to support local Hawkins County families in need by collecting essential items.
The first 100 fans for each team to donate will receive a complimentary rubber wristband in their school colors.
Donations can include non-perishable food items (canned spaghetti, mac and cheese, peanut butter and crackers, ramen noodles, cereal, etc.) and/or hygiene products (shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotions, cleaning supplies, etc.).

Volunteer High School Distribution is cancelled for today, October 17, 2024 and rescheduled for Tuesday, October 22 at 11:30 at the Vocational Building at Volunteer. We are very sorry for the inconvenience to our families and will strive to make sure this doesn’t happen in the future.


Don't miss Second Harvest's drive-thru food pantry on Thursday, October 17th! The distribution will be held at Cherokee's vocational buildings from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM and at Volunteer's from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. This event is free, but pre-registration is necessary. Hawkins County Schools will operate on a normal schedule on Friday, October 4, 2024.


Hawkins County Schools Child Nutrition served lunches to kids age 0-18 during the Hurricane Helene School closures.




Hawkins County Schools will operate on a one hour delay on Thursday, October 3, 2024. While there are some bus routes that may not be passable due to remaining debris, many improvements have been made and a majority of our students can safely access schools tomorrow. If your route is still unsafe to travel, please communicate with your child’s school and inform them of the situation. Principal discretionary notes will be granted for such cases. Thank you for your patience and welcome back.

Hawkins County Schools Truancy Review Board for tomorrow, October 2, 2024 will be re-scheduled for October 23, 2024. If you were scheduled to appear for truancy review, your scheduled time will be the same time on October 23.

Hawkins County Schools will be CLOSED Wednesday, October 2, 2024. We will continue to monitor area conditions through EMA, 911, and the electrical power companies.
Drive through pick up meals will be served at each school site from 10:30-12:30 on a first come first serve basis.


Hawkins Elementary Bearcats were challenged to memorize and recite the Bearcat Creed. Many students accepted and conquered the task. Students share the creed over the intercom during morning announcements and receive a prize for doing so. #BearcatPride
