The Walmart Foundation was created in 1982 to help support the communities Walmart serves. Together, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation generally provide more than $1 billion in cash and in-kind annual giving.
Walmart’s West Stone Drive, Kingsport, Tennessee location recently presented Hawkins County Schools with a check for $1,000. The Volunteer High School Basketball program is using the funds to purchase fitness equipment. Zach Crawford, VHS Boys Basketball Coach shared, “Thank you to Walmart for your continued support of Volunteer High School Basketball. With their support we have been able to purchase equipment that will better our athletes. Thank you again for your support.”
“It is vitally important that Hawkins County Schools continue to have community partners like Walmart. Without their support and encouragement, many of our schools would not have the items they help to fund. Walmart Foundation demonstrates their commitment to our students and communities in ways like these grants and we are very appreciative,” stated Matt Hixson, Director of Schools.
