May 26, 2023, Hawkins County Schools was presented an official check from the East Tennessee Clean Fuel Coalition. HCS received $72,000 in grant funds toward the purchase of (3) new propane buses last year. These buses have been put into use in the Clinch and Rogersville communities. HCS is also a recipient of $48,000 for (2) more new propane buses in the upcoming year. Transportation Director, Roy Benavides says, “As a district, we decided to lean towards propane based on the cleaner emissions and what that can do for our environment.” Thank you East TN Clean Fuel Coalition!
